How to look edgy and stylish
On the 3rd of September I attended the LondonEdge catwalk show, together with a fellow fashion stylist and a good friend of mine, Jesse Destefano.
LondonEdge's new collections showcased brands such as:
After watching the show I was truly inspired by some of the collections, and even though the alternative fashion is not what I would usually wear, I was very excited to go through my wardrobe and put together a few edgy/alternative outfits in keeping with my own individual style.
Here are my few simple tips to help you achieve an edgy and stylish look:
GO DARK:
You can’t go wrong with rocking black, not only does this color looks good on almost everyone it also has an edgy vibe.
VINTAGE INSPIRED:
Having a few vintage pieces in your wardrobe is definitely a good idea. Personally I find 1950 style dresses extremely feminine and sexy..
SKINNY JEANS:
Whether you prefer coated, mineral-washed, shredded, or plain, you just can't rock-and-roll without a trusty pair of skinny black pants.
AN ABSOLUTE MUST:
Invest in a good quality leather jacket. Not only it will last you for years but it will also add a cool edgy touch to your style.
STUDS:
Studded boots/shoes will instantly add an edge to your outfit. However, if you prefer more classic footwear you can't go wrong with a pair Dr Marten combat boots.
Studs also look great on leather/denim jackets and clutch bags.
NO-NON SENS JEWELRY PIECES AND ACCESSORIES:
Pick from: knuckle rings, knuckle shields, two-finger rings, leather wrap bracelets and chunky bangles and many more...Be bold and creative. Some well-stacked edgy jewelry can make all the difference to your outfit.
Accessorize your look with a cool and edgy signature hat or dark rock star sunglasses.
OUTFIT: Leather jacket: Top shop, Silk dress: Miss Selfridge, Shoes: Michael Kors
